Cedar Rapids Getting New Mini-Golf Course
Cedar Rapids is getting its second mini-golf course, this one on the city's northeast side.
Tuesday night, the Cedar Rapids City Council gave their blessing on a new 18-hole course at Twin Pines Golf Course. The course, which opened on the 4th of July in 1962, is located at 3800 42nd St. N.E.
The new mini-golf course is expected to open sometime in the spring of 2021, with construction slated to begin this fall. It will be built near the driving range at Twin Pines and is expected to cost $560,000. Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Director Scott Hock says the city hopes to do about 125 rounds per day on the new course.
Hock told Iowa's News Now,
Some people from the family might wanna come mini-golf, might wanna hit a bucket or two of balls, some might even wanna golf... It will have some amenities in it like a waterfall and natural landscaping and that sort of thing. It’s not a tourist sort of one, that's super big, but it will be a nice addition to the course.”
The Cedar Rapids metro area currently has a pair of mini-golf courses. One is located at Airport National Golf Course at 3001 Wright Brothers Boulevard. The other is at the AirFX Trampoline Park at 1100 North 18th Avenue in Hiawatha. A round is $7 for adults at each course.
