You may be using your social distancing time to catch up on yard work, including those leaves that might be piling up.

The Cedar Rapids Solid Waste and Recycling department says they will be conducting curbside leaf pick up starting on Monday, April 6th. The leaf vacuum trucks will be through your neighborhood on your normal garbage collection day to also collect leftover leaves, and you're asked to have them ready by 7 a.m.

Please avoid raking leaves into the street or around mailboxes or poles to prevent obstacles to the trucks picking them up.

According to KCRG, other yard waste can be placed into YARDY carts. Separate leaf bags will not be collected due to coronavirus restrictions.

Leaf collection will continue through May 1st.
