Two Cedar Rapids city employees came to the rescue of an entire family of baby ducklings Monday afternoon.

After witnessing a mother duck accidentally lead all of her ducklings directly into a sewer along 3rd Avenue on Mays Island, some downtown workers jumped in to help. As a panicked mother duck sat on top of the sewer grate, doing her best to protect her misplaced brood, the workers started making phone calls. They were soon able to enlist the help of two workers from the city's sewer maintenance department.

The two were able to get the sewer grate opened and, one by one, save 11 baby ducklings. Below, you can see eight of them chirping their little hearts out after being rescued.
