Brain’s Son Enters The World of Tackle Football
The flags are gone, and have been replace by pads and a helmet. This fall, my son Chase is going to be playing tackle football. It wasn't a decision that came easy for my wife and I as parents. With concussions a reality in all ages, we weren't sure that we wanted our son to take the chance. But many of his friends were playing, so he wanted to give it a try.
Sunday, he got his equipment, and we as parents were given an overview of the Metro Youth Football Association, the league he will be playing in. They are associated with USA Football, which is leading the charge in safety with their "Heads Up" tackling campaign. It was great to hear how seriously they take the safety of the players.
Practices start August 11th. Five nights a week....for 2 and a half hours a night. Welcome to football son!
