If you aren't on the social media site TikTok, then chances are you have kids that are. I've tried my hand at the site, and it is pretty entertaining. You can find videos of all kinds. But the ones that get the attention of my daughter Carly, are ones that feature 'easy to try' recipes. She showed me one a couple of weeks ago and I told her, lets try it! We did and it actually turned out really good! So I asked her if she'd like to cook up some recipes she finds on TikTok and then I can feature them on the air and on our app. She agreed, so today we kick off 'TikTok Cookin' with Carly'!

The first recipe we're featuring is a simple fettucine alfredo. While you boil your fettucine noodles, you can simmer the following ingredients in a large skillet.

  • Butter (we used 3 Tbsp)
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 spoon of freshly chopped basil
  • 1 spoon of oregano
  • 2 spoons of flour

Mix those ingredients together in the skillet until they begin to make a smooth paste.

Next, its time to add 2 cups of milk and stir that in.

After mixing in your milk, it's time for some cheese! We added 3/4 cup of mozzarella and 2/3 cup of parmesan. Cook at medium heat until the cheese is all melted in.

We did end up adding a bit more flour towards the end to help thicken the sauce up. But soon, we had a wonderful smelling alfredo sauce that was ready for pasta! You could of course dish the pasta separately and add sauce, but this recipe calls for adding your pasta to the skillet.

After mixing the fettucine in with the sauce, we were done! The meal was done, and we just made our own alfredo sauce! Thanks TikTok!

Carly did a great job on this and really has shown an interest in cooking. What will she make next? You can make a suggestion if you would like. Tell us about a fun recipe you've seen on TikTok or social media, and maybe Carly will cook it up next week!
