Brain Gets ‘Tasty’ On Weekend Trip to Des Moines

If Jason Momoa travels all the way from Hollywood for his favorite tacos, there was no excuse for me not to try them this weekend as my family stayed in the Des Moines area for a girl's volleyball tournament. And guess what? Aquaman is right. Tasty Tacos will change your life!

I've always wanted to try Tasty Tacos but hadn't had the chance to recently. Well, this weekend gave me that chance. We spent most of Saturday and Sunday in Des Moines for our daughter Cayleigh's volleyball tournament. The schedule, especially on Saturday, was pretty hectic and ran until nearly 9 p.m. But God Bless my wife. She and Carly took off during a brief break and grabbed some Tasty Tacos to go so we could try them for ourselves in the hotel room that night.

The best of the tacos that we ordered were the flour tacos. These feature the restaurant's famous homemade fluffy flour shell, filled with beef, lettuce, and cheese. It was absolutely amazing, the best softshell taco I'd ever had. We also tried their corn shell hardshell tacos too, along with some homemade flour chips. All I can tell you is that the hype is for real. These are among the best tacos you'll every eat.

If you aren't familiar with the Tasty Taco story, the restaurant chain was founded back in 1961 by Richard and Antonia Mosqueda. Over 60 years later, the business is still family-run and owned and features six Des Moines locations. Their motto is 'Nada Es Imposible', or Nothing is Impossible.
