Brain Forced To Deal With Intruder In His Backyard!
My wife called me in a panic yesterday afternoon. There was an intruder in our backyard. A possum had crawled into an open garbage can and scared the heck out of her when she went to take the trash out. So when I got home, I went on possum patrol.
I grew up on a farm, so I've seen and dealt with possums before. I dumped out the trash can to set him free, but he then ran right into our screened in porch. It huddled up against some firewood. I wanted to get the critter out of our backyard because our small dog goes out there to do his business, and if you've never cornered a possum before, they can be a little vicious. This one was baring his teeth and hissing at me!
So instead of further agrivating it, or ending it's life, I decided to simply wait. I went back inside for about an hour and a half. Once in was a bit darker, I checked the porch, and the possum was gone.
Cover those trash cans folks! With the weather turning colder, the critters are looking harder than ever for a free meal!
