A shooting on the Northwest side of Cedar Rapids over the weekend has claimed the life of a young boy.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the boy was killed in a shooting Saturday morning. Cedar Rapids police have released very few details in the case including the boy's age or what led to the incident. They also have not announced in any arrests have been made in the case. The Gazette reports that a public safety spokesperson confirms that the shooting "appears to be a targeted incident."

The Gazette reports that several people called 911 at around 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning reporting that shots had been fired in the 1600 block of F Ave. NW in Cedar Rapids. Police say that a "juvenile male" died at the scene. There were no other injuries reported. Police say that their investigation into the shooting continues. This is the second fatal shooting in less than one week on the city's Northwest side.
