A unique new Cedar Rapids restaurant held its soft opening this weekend! Boiling Pot began welcoming customers on Saturday, March 1st at 5070 Lindale Dr NE.

We first heard about Boiling Pot back in January when signage went up at the restaurant, which is located across the street from Lindale Mall next to Great Harvest Bread Company. The building most recently housed the short-lived restaurant Mezcal Tequila Cocina, but it is best known as the former home of Happy Joe's.

The main focus of the menu at Boiling Pot is a popular Asian dish known as "hot pot." If you're not familiar with hot pot, here's how Boiling Pot's website describes it:

"Hot pot is a flavorful broth served inside a large pot. The broth is brought to a boil and left simmering for the duration of the meal. Raw ingredients, such as meat, seafood and vegetables, are placed into the simmering broth and until cooked. The cooked pieces are dipped into dipping sauces for additional flavor. Hot pot is considered a main course and is usually served without rice or noodles on the side."

Boiling Pot offers an all-you-can-eat hot pot menu, which offers a ton of options for diners. First you choose your soup base: Tomato, Herbal, Mushroom, Thai Tom Yum, Harthy Pork Bone, or Spicy Szechuan. Next, you choose your ingredients. There's sliced meat, vegetables, seafood, soy/tofu, noodles/rice, and more. The all-you-can-eat menu also features appetizers. Check out the menu below:

If you do choose the all-you-can-eat option at Boiling Pot, there is a limited dine-in time of two hours. There is also a surcharge for wasted food, so please order responsibly!

Boiling Pot also has a regular entree menu, which also includes hot pot, but there are lots of other options, too. There are appetizers, rice dishes, stir-fry dishes, hibachi dishes, spring rolls, and some basic sushi rolls. A comment from Boiling Pot on Facebook says the "full menu will be available soon." You can check it out online HERE.

Even though Boiling Pot just held its soft opening on Saturday, there are already  a couple of positive reviews popping up on social media. A Facebook post from Christian Drollinger says that the "service was fantastic and the food was great." Check out the full review below:

Boiling Pot's hours are listed as Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. For the latest updates from the new restaurant, visit the official Facebook page HERE.
