It was one of those Sundays. Work hard to get everything ready to go racing, only to drive to Dubuque and only get hot laps in before the rain hit.

It was a strange day. As we were pulling out of Center Point on our way to Dubuque, my crewman Steve says "is that a funnel cloud?" Now like a bunch of people thought on Sunday... "how can there be a funnel cloud when the sun is out?" Well it turns out it was a funnel cloud and just north of Center Point, it was going across the sky instead of coming down.

We filled up the truck and gathered ice for the cooler only to have our cell phones telling us to take cover as a tornado was in our immediate area. We could see the dark blue skies to the east of us. Looking at radar, the rain was staying to the south of Hwy 20 and not effecting Dubuque.

Well, I've seen this many times racing at Dubuque. There is something about that Mississippi River that seems to draw the rain clouds and have them park over the Dubuque County Fairgrounds. Sunday was no exception. The season championships got rained out and that concluded Sunday night racing action at Dubuque.

Our racing schedule for this week is Thursday night at the Farley Speedway. Thursday night is the 2nd night of the Yankee Dirt Track Classic. IMCA Sport Mods, Compacts, 2 Man Cruisers, INEX Legends, and IMCA Late Models will be running Thursday with a 25 lap feature at the end of the night.

Hope to see you Thursday night.
