How would I recap this past weekend? We survived.

I had some bad luck Saturday night at Independence as we broke the RF lower control arm in our qualifying heat race. (see picture below of a new one and the broken one) The control arm keeps the tire in place and luckily it broke on the straightaway and not while going through the corner otherwise we could have ended up upside down. After a quick call to my son... we met up with the spare control arm and got back to the track in Independence from Center Point just in time to put the part on and get the car out for the feature. We didn't have any extra time for working on the set-up. As a result, we raced about half the feature before pulling in.

After going through the car on Sunday, we raced at the Benton County Speedway in Vinton. We finished 6th in the feature. Not bad considering last night was the first full night on the car.

Up next we'll be at Independence on Saturday night for Albert Auto Night. Lots of great prizes to be given away and stop down after the races and say hi just like TJ and his son Zavier from Cedar Rapids did Saturday night.
