The Best ‘Hole-in-the-Wall’ Burger Joint in Iowa [PHOTOS]
We have plenty of hole-in-the-wall restaurants here in Iowa, but which one has the best burgers? Well, according to a 2023 list from the website Cheapism, it's a place over in Fort Dodge!
Rides Bar & Grill, located at 723 S 31st Street, is a popular biker bar that first opened its doors in 2009. The menu features all sorts of appetizers, salads, and pizzas, but the main attraction is their burgers. There are nearly 20 different burger options at Rides, including the Deuce Coop, Hot Rod, Patty Wagon, '51 Mercury, and Fat Boy. The restaurant's signature burger is the Burn Out Burger, which is a 1/4 lb. open-faced burger topped with fries, chili, cheese, ham, bacon, and onion. Here are a couple of Yelp reviews about the burgers at Rides:
Nate P. - "Burger menu was awesome, something for everyone. I had the Studebaker, love me some egg and peanut butter on my burger. The burger taste great, size was generous, bun was soft, and the tots were amazing."
Krystal C. - "Wow. In town for work, wanted a burger but not fast food. Found this place on yelp. Honestly probably one of the absolute best burgers I've ever had! I did the 69 Camaro SS (added grilled onion) this time, cant wait to come back and try another."
If you need more convincing about the quality of the burgers, Rides Bar & Grill made the list of ten finalists for the 2014, 2015, 2016, AND 2019 Best Burger Contests here in Iowa! The restaurant is open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
