An ‘Outrageous’ Mini-Golf Bar Has Officially Opened in Iowa
Get ready for some fun on your next trip to Des Moines! A new mini-golf bar called the Fat Putter is now open inside the Wilkins Building at 713 Walnut Street!
According to the Des Moines Register, the Fat Putter is a mini-golf bar that's part of the Let's Go Putt chain here in the Midwest. The Des Moines location is modeled after the original Fat Putter, which is in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Fat Putter in Des Moines includes 27 holes of mini-golf, three different 9-hole courses all located inside the 11,600-square-foot space. Each hole is a completely different experience, with themes like Jurassic Park, beer pong, football, air hockey, Plinko, roulette, skee-ball, Tetris, and more. You can check out a sneak peek of some of the holes below:
This past weekend was the Fat Putter's soft opening, but they are now open for regular hours. The business doesn't serve food, but they do recommend ordering Fong’s Pizza during your rounds. The full bar will also be available this week.
If you want to check out the Fat Putter, it's $18 for ages 13+ and $12 for kids. The price gets you access to all 27 holes, no reservations needed. The hours this winter are:

- Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Friday & Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight
