An Eastern Iowa Sunflower Farm Opens This Week
Get ready to check out some gorgeous flowers!
According to a new Facebook post, Pheasant Run Farm near Belle Plaine, Iowa has a field full of sunflowers, and they're just about ready to show them off! The 2021 Sunflower Experience will officially open this Wednesday, August 4th at 4 p.m.
Pheasant Run Farm has 9.5 acres of blooming sunflowers that Iowans are welcome to come check out for $6 per person (ages 3 and under are free). For opening day they will be open from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and then Thursday, August 5th through Sunday, August 15th they plan to be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., as long as the weather cooperates.
Pheasant Run's website says that the farm doesn't just offer a view of the sunflowers, you can actually take some home with you! There is a "Cut-Your-Own Sunflower Bouquet" option for an additional $2 per stem. The farm also features several photo stations with farm equipment and props, two elevated platforms for a better view of the flowers, a "Sunflower Forest" for the kids, and food trucks on specific days. Photographers are welcome to do photo shoots with the sunflowers, but you will have to to be mindful of other visitors.
If you need directions to Pheasant Run Farm, you can enter "Pheasant Run Farm - Sunflower Experience" into Google Maps. The website says:
"We are 1/4 mile south of the junction of Highway 30 and V40/131. If you visited the Sunflower Experience last year, the field is at the same intersection only on the south, rather than north, side of Hwy 30."
