American Gothic House Opening for Tours in April
Many would call it the most famous house in the state of Iowa. It's the farm house featured in the background of Grant Wood's iconic painting 'American Gothic'. And for the first time since it was built back in 1881, it will be opening to the public.
Starting April 11th, the house located in Eldon, Iowa will be open for Saturday tours. There are also plans to use the home for workshops and art classes. A museum and gift shop next to the house opened up 8 years ago. The museum is open 7 days a week.
Grant Wood's 'American Gothic' painting remains on display at the Art Institute of Chicago. Wood painted the piece in Cedar Rapids back in 1930.
