Affecting Vehicles in Iowa GM Recalls 449,000 SUVS and Pick-Ups
Were you aware that there was an issue with the electronic brake control module in almost 450,000 General Motors vehicles? Was it your day to watch these things? I was not aware of this issue but luckily The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was on the job. They keep track of this kind of stuff so you and I don't have to. The Associated Press is reporting that certain 2023-2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESVs, 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban 1500, 2023 GMC Sierra1500, 2023-2024 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL models. The NHTSA says because of this fault you could be driving with low brake fluid and that can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash. As someone who has been in a few crashes, not fun. Maybe I'm the crazy one, but crashes go in the, let's not, category. This is quite serious and an issue GM is aware of and according to Consumer Reports the recall is now being expanded.
What do you do if your vehicle is included in the recall?
If your vehicle is one of the vehicles included in the recall the NHTSA says the repair is a software update and that will be provided free to vehicle owners. If you're reading this you may find out about the recall before you're notified by mail. Those notifications, according to the Associated Press, are set to be mailed on October 28, 2024. You can contact customer service at these locations and they'll be able to assist you with getting your vehicle repaired should it be one of the vehicles recalled. GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006.
