Actor/Singer Billy Bob Thornton to Perform with The Boxmasters in Iowa City

You may have seen him on the big screen and maybe even on the small screen but this time he'll be appearing on stage.  The stage will play host to an actor but he won't be acting, he will be signing and that person is Bill Bob Thornton.  If you didn't know Billy Bob was a singer well, he's been doing it for longer than he's been acting, if you ask him.

Who are the Boxmasters?

Billy Bob Thornton formed The Boxmasters in 2007 with Grammy award-winning recording engineer J.D. Andrew.  The group has recorded and toured extensively through the years.  However, they took a break in 2010, for almost 5 years so Thornton could write and direct what would become the feature film Jayne Mansfield's Car.

After that short stint, The Boxmasters were back out on the road in support of the album Somewhere Down the Road.  It was not just one disc from Thornton and his Boxmasters but two.  Rolling Stone magazine said 'This sprawling double album, which amazingly doesn't feel Use Your Illusion bloated (Gun's N Roses reference), finds him and the ace Masters mixing country noir with bright jangle pop.'

When will Billy Bob be in Town?

Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters will be making a stop here in the great state of Iowa.  They'll be performing at the Englert Theatre, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 7:30 PM.  The tickets are $31 - $68.13 (including fees).  If you'd like to attend you can check for tickets through the Englert Theatre website.  At last check, they still had some decent seats.
