A Restaurant Chain Has Opened Its First Eastern Iowa Location
Back in May, we told you about a unique restaurant chain that would be expanding into the state of Iowa this year. Well, we're happy to report that the first of several locations is now welcoming customers!
Thanks to a new article from the Des Moines Register, we now know that Hawaiian Bros officially opened its doors in Davenport on August 1st. The new restaurant is located in the former Wendy's 2955 E 53rd Street and is open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight.
According to the Hawaiian Bros website, their menu is an "homage to the Hawaiian plate lunch." Each of the six plate lunch options feature a meat or veggies, rice, and macaroni salad. They also offer the Pacific Island Salad and sides like Spam Musubi, which consists of rice and seared spam glazed in teriyaki sauce and wrapped in dried seaweed. And don't forget the Dole Whip for dessert! Recommended dishes from Google reviewers include the Huli Huli Chicken with Mixed Veggies, the Luau Pig Slow Roasted Kalua Pork, and the Dole Whip Twist.
The Hawaiian Bros location in Davenport is just the first planned for Iowa. The Des Moines Register reports that the fast-casual restaurant chain wants to open ten of them across the state. We don't know exactly where they'll be just yet, but we do know they are looking at locations in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Ames, and Des Moines. The company hopes to open them all by 2027. We hope they make it to the Corridor sooner rather than later!
