
A Popular Cedar Rapids Ice Cream Shop Opens This Weekend
Nothing welcomes in warmer weather better than ice cream!
This weekend, a very popular ice cream shop here in Cedar Rapids will officially open for the 2023 season. According to Facebook, Kool Moo is preparing to open its doors on Saturday, April 1st!
Located at at 1020 Old Marion Rd NE, Kool Moo has been a Cedar Rapids favorite since it opened back in 1973. They offer a wide variety of ice cream, novelties, Avalanches, frozen yogurt, Dole Whip, and more. Customers may notice a change to Kool Moo this year, though. The building recently had a bit of a makeover, so it's now pink instead of blue!

Kool Moo isn't the only ice cream shop in the area that's ready for the 2023 season! Customers can already check out The Freeze in Marion, which opened its doors back in mid-February. It's located at 915 S 11th Street and is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
And don't forget about Parlor City Ice Cream at 1936 42nd Street NE in Cedar Rapids! That particular shop opened earlier this month and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
