A New Breakfast Spot Has Opened Inside a Popular Cedar Rapids Restaurant

A Cedar Rapids restaurant has teamed up with a local chef to begin offering weekend breakfast!

Have you heard of Greenwood Kitchens? If you haven't, I wouldn't be surprised. I just started seeing posts about the mystery restaurant pop up on Facebook over the past few days. As it turns out, Greenwood Kitchens is NOT a restaurant with its own location just yet. It's actually operating inside La Cantina at 5400 Edgewood Road NE in Cedar Rapids. Greenwood Kitchens began serving breakfast at the local Mexican restaurant earlier this month, so it's still very new to the area.

According to the official Facebook page, Greenwood Kitchens is "the brainchild of a local chef with a diverse background. Burmese born, Iowa raised, Culinary Institute of America trained. 25 years of experience in the culinary world from NYC, England, to Iowa." The post promises that their partnership with La Cantina is just the beginning.

The breakfast menu at Greenwood Kitchens offers items like eggs benedict, omelettes, chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, breakfast skillets, waffles, pancakes, and more. Sides include standard breakfast fare like bacon, sausage, toast, hash browns, fruit, and sautéed veggies. There also appears to be a bloody Mary/mimosa bar! Greenwood Kitchens is only open Friday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., with La Cantina opening for regular business at 11 a.m. The eatery does accept breakfast reservations.
