Two days packed with the excitement of trying to land the big one are just a few weeks away. In this case, the big one might not necessarily be the biggest catfish, but a new pickup.

98.1 KHAK is proud to sponsor the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Corridor and their annual Fish-O-Rama fundraiser which celebrates its 21st year next month.

The annual event is held Saturday and Sunday, August 5 and 6 at Robbins Lake at Ellis Park in Cedar Rapids. The lake is located just off Edgewood Road and Ellis. There are tons of prizes available again this year, including a new Toyota Tacoma pickup (photo below) and a $1,000 gift card to Fleet Farm. Registration for the event is now open and there are a variety of entry options, starting at just $10.

There are three different fishing registration choices available for Fish-O-Rama at Robbins Lake, where tagged catfish will be added to the lake at 6 a.m. Saturday morning, August 5. Fishing will begin at 7 a.m with "Basic", "Bonus", or "Big Cat" Registration all available. You can find out more about all three options HERE and register HERE.

After registering, you'll be able to pick up your materials at Robbins Lake from Wednesday through Friday, August 2 through 4. On-site registration is also available on those three days. Specific times are available HERE.

Get your bait and tackle ready and get ready to catch some fish. Boys and Girls Clubs of the Corridor expect more than 1,200 people to take part in this great annual event. In 2022, more than 1,000 tagged fish were caught. That's a record we'd love to have eclipsed this year! May the catfish find your bait and you get them to the shore.

*Enter to win basic registration for two, and two t-shirts. Contest ends Monday, July 31 at 11:59 p.m. Winners will be chosen on Tuesday, August 1.

Iowa's State Record Fish

Fishing season has arrived in the great state of Iowa and here are photos of 34 of the state record-holders for particular species. There are actually a total of 55 record-setting fish in the state of Iowa but, unfortunately, pictures aren't available for all of them.
