2020 Grammy Nominations: 4 Unfortunate Snubs, 4 Big Surprises
Two of the biggest winners from the 2019 CMA Awards were super-sized snubbed by voters for the 2020 Grammy Awards. The just-released Grammy nominations is a diverse list of artists and songs including young and old, traditional and very, very progressive, plus plenty of "who?"
Lil Nas X is a surprise that seems odd at first, but we'll get there. Reba McEntire joins him for her inclusion in a category that's typically been left for more artful projects in years past. Fellow sexagenarian Tanya Tucker also earned some Grammy lov,e but it wasn't a good day for all men and women of a certain age. One of country's must thoughtful albums of 2019 was shut out in country categories.
Most shocking, however, is the exclusion of the CMA Album of the Year winner and a career song for the CMA Male Vocalist of the Year. Maren Morris and Luke Combs did not get what was coming to them in key country categories for reasons we can't quite figure out. Find both of them — plus all eight snubs and surprises from the 2020 Grammy nominations — below. Let us know who you were shocked to see (or not see) on Twitter.
The 2020 Grammy Awards will take place on Jan. 26 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Alicia Keys hosts the CBS telecast, which begins at 8PM ET.
