The CRST Center in downtown Cedar Rapids debuted yesterday for around 100 lucky people who got the first tour of the nearly completed high-rise. The 113,000 square foot facility is over 95% complete according to contractors.

The $37 million building, which features floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Cedar River, was built on the former site of the first avenue parkade which was damaged by the flood of 2008. It was demolished in 2011 and construction of the CRST Center began in 2014.

CRST moved around 60 employees from their facility on 16th Ave. SW, to the new center earlier this month. The company will occupy the 4th and 5th floors. They will continue their operations on the southwest side.

Bankers Trust will have employees on the 10th and 11th floors while RSM International will occupy the 8th and 9th floors. Both businesses hope to be open by October 24th. Bankers Trust will also have a branch at street level. Holmes Murphy and Alliant Energy also has plans to move employees into the CRST Center.
