Zac Brown Band Scheduled for Inaugural Twitter-Streamed Concert
Twitter has tried its hand in the music business before, but now, instead of promoting their own Twitter Music platform, the social media company is getting into the concert business in partnership with Live Nation. Twitter executives announced on Monday (May 1) that the company will be live-streaming concerts — and the first show will feature the Zac Brown Band.
On May 13, the second show of the Zac Brown Band’s Welcome Home Tour will be streamed live on Twitter from Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park in Alpharetta, Ga. Other artists slated for Twitter-streamed concerts include Portugal the Man, Train, August Alsina and Marian Hill.
The move into the live-streaming music business makes sense for Twitter, which reports that seven out of the 10 most-followed users on its platform are musicians (via TechCrunch). The company also found great success by live-streaming Billboard’s Grammy Awards pre-show; that event was the most viewed entertainment live stream on Twitter to date.

“Music has always been one of the most tweeted-about topics on the platform,” Twitter COO Anthony Noto says, “and now fans around the world will be able to experience concerts live on the same platform where they talk about what’s happening in music.”
Twitter has been expanding its live-streaming content offerings recently; a 2017 ACM Awards red carpet pre-show streamed live on the platform in early April. TechCrunch reports that the company soon plans to have live-streaming content available 24/7, including sports, news and entertainment shows and events.
ZBB’s 2017 Welcome Home Tour is scheduled to kick off on May 12, at the same venue in Alpharetta; the band’s newest album, Welcome Home, is also set for release on May 12. A list of all of the Zac Brown Band’s upcoming tour dates can be found at ZacBrownBand.com.
