It seems like every day you read horrific stories of parents accused of killing their own children and of others committing unimaginable crimes.

So when you see news that the state of Iowa may be deciding soon to reinstate the death penalty, it may not come as a surprise just how many people seem to support the measure.

CBS2 News reports that a new State bill introduced by Republican Senator Jerry Behn  aims to reinstate Iowa’s death penalty, but only for people convicted of first degree murder, kidnapping, and rape combined.

Which begs the question: How are we to determine which crime or combination of crimes warrants the ultimate penalty of death?

Whatever the answer, it is an issue that needs to be seriously considered, with careful consideration. Let's not rush this possible legislation through congress like some tax reform bill.
