The St. Louis Cardinals won the Central Division in the National League for the third year in a row. They get to sit back and watch tonight at the Chicago Cubs play the Pittsburgh Pirates in the one game National League Wild Card game. St. Louis is familiar with both teams as they too play in the same division. I've talked to some Cardinal fans this week who are rooting for a Pirate win. Not me. Give me the Cubs.

The Cubs/Cardinal rivalry is one of the greatest is sports. My wife Holly is a Cubs fan, while I root for the Cardinals. The rivalry hasn't been as fun the past few years as the Cubs have been in rebuilding mode. Meanwhile St. Louis has added 2 World Series titles in the past 10 years. But all of that changed this year. Joe Madden has got the Cubs believing and winning. You'll hear many say they're ahead of schedule. Cub fans are trying not to get giddy. You have to give it to them. It's the first time in a long time that their team is a legitimate contender. But why root for a Cub win tonight?

How great would it be to knock your hated rival out of the playoffs? It would be bliss to send the Cubbies home while moving on to the NLCS...again. Ask a Cub fan how it would feel to knock out the Cardinals. So I'm rooting for the Cubs to advance tonight. Because the next round will be more than I can stand!
