A high-profile location in Cedar Rapids will be burning this week, but there's no reason for concern.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department will be conducting training exercises during a controlled burn on the house above at 117 2nd Street S.W., Thursday afternoon and Friday. The house is just off 1st Avenue, so is likely to create a lot of attention and onlookers on the busy Cedar Rapids roadway.

Members of the Fire Department will be doing a variety of exercises, including search and rescue, fire entry, interior fire attack, and extinguishment. The property is owned by the City of Cedar Rapids. Typically, "practice" house burns only happen a couple times a year and in this high-profile location, I wanted to make sure you knew what was going to be happening.
