According to Google, today is a national holiday! But it's not just any holiday, today is all about PIE. January 23rd is National Pie Day, not to be confused with National Pi Day on March 14th.

So where did National Pie Day come from? According to Wikipedia:

"National Pie Day is an annual celebration of pies started in the mid-1970s by Boulder, Colorado nuclear engineer, brewer, and teacher Charlie Papazian after he declared his own birthday, January 23, to be National Pie Day."

Does that mean I can declare my birthday National Nacho Day? We'll get to that later...

When it comes to pie, everybody has their preferences. National Today did a survey all about pie and 26% of people say make it from scratch, 30% buy the crust and make the filling, and 44% of people say they just get their pie from the store. The three most popular brands are Marie Callender's, Sara Lee, and Mrs. Smith's. To be honest with you, I am not a big fan of pie at all. I prefer cake, but I do love the banana split pie from Kathy's Pies in Cedar Rapids!

In honor of National Pie Day, we want to know what the best flavors of pie are! According to National Today, the top three are apple, pumpkin, and chocolate. Is it the same here in Eastern Iowa? We'll find out! Please leave your vote in the poll below!
