Look at that bright, sunny, scenic CLEAR view. That's Guthridge Park in Hiawatha. Needless to say it hasn't looked like that in a while, and it probably seems even longer, given our recent weather.

Hiawatha Public Works was in the process of a resurfacing project of the trail the last several weeks of the season last fall, rendering it unusable. It never quite got completed on time, and then winter struck. Big time. It's just what we have to deal with in Iowa. That doesn't mean we have to like it.

If you're like me, you're sitting around dreaming of nicer days while you're all cooped up, and thinking about what you miss most about those days. If there's anything specific I am missing about the nice weather right now, it's my jaunts with my dog Riley down the street to Guthridge for fresh air and exercise. They even have free live music in the summer. Ah, summer.

Parks & Recreation assures me the project is one of their top priorities come spring, and I appreciate their work, giving me something to look forward to, when and if this snow and frigid cold ever stops. According to some experts, though, it's here to stay for a while.

What are you missing the most about spring and summer while we wait for winter to do its thing? Let me know in the comments.
