So today is the official mark of my first two weeks in Iowa! In honor of that, I've compiled a list of things I've learned about Cedar Rapids and Iowa in general over the last 14 days.

1. Nobody knows what Superman ice cream is

I just assumed everyone knew about it, but I guess it's a Michigan thing. Anyways, It's delicious and looks like neopolitan, only it's blue, pink, and yellow. It's a mixture of vanilla, black cherry, and blue moon flavors, and there's actually a delicious shot that bartenders can make that tastes just as good.

2. Nobody is single

Now, I'm not saying that EVERYONE is in a relationship, but for the most part, the people I've met/seen are either dating someone, married, were married at SOME point, or have kids. Obviously that doesn't apply to all people, but it's just an observation I've made. All of the fellas I find attractive always have a girl on their arm, which makes it hard for us single folk.

3. There is some GREAT Mexican food

You are definitely not close to the border, so I don't fully understand this, but I am 1000% ok with it.

4. The weather is fairly similar to Michigan's

...and everyone forgets how to drive in the snow even though it happens every year. It's ok, I'm totally used to it :)

5. The streets in Cedar Rapids are NOT easy to navigate

I've already driven the wrong way down a one-way street... it wasn't fun.

6. And FINALLY... the people here are MUCH nicer

Everyone here has been so polite and so welcoming. It's definitely a breath of fresh air. People are much harsher in the Detroit area. It must be your mid-west charm :)

Is there anything else I need to know about Cedar Rapids/Iowa? I would love to learn a few more things about the community. Feel free to leave a comment!
