Today is October 21st, 2015. It's the day that Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel to in the movie 'Back to the Future 2'. Can movies really predict what will happen in the future? It turns out that the Steven Spielberg movie did get a few things right.

The movie correctly predicted several things involving technology. Like the movie, many of us enjoy big screen TVs in our homes. Video conferencing has become the norm.  There are hand free video games for kids to play, and video glasses that you can wear. The film also introduced us to drones. One of the most famous predictions that 'Back to the Future 2' is know for is that it predicted the Chicago Cubs would win the World Series in 2015. Technically, that dream is still alive too. However they're down 3-0 to the Mets in the NLCS.

What did the movie get wrong? Jaws 19 for one. Thankfully no new sequels to that movie have been made for years. We don't have flying cars and sadly, no hoverboards....yet. The movie also predicted that we'd have shoes with self-tying laces. While they're not on the market yet, Nike is reportedly working on it!

I wonder what Marty and Doc would think of the future that is the present day. One thing is for sure. Some fans in Chicago sure wish a Delorean would magically appear near Wrigley Field tonight.
