Eastern Iowa was spared from Severe Weather last night. Less than a half an inch of rain fell in our area, but to the South and West of us, they were hit with rain, hail, wind gust around 70mph, & tornados.

Across Nebraska, storms uprooted trees, pummeled homes, blew off roofs, shattered windshields and dented car hoods with baseball sized hail. Over the span of eight minutes starting at around 5 p.m. the NWS recorded 1.08 inches of rain at the Omaha airport, which closed due to risk of flash flooding on the airfield. The airport reopened hours later. At total of 5 inches of rain fell in a 6 hour period.
