Until this morning, Ebola didn't really have my attention. However, when I awoke to the news that a second Ebola case had been confirmed in Dallas, I was concerned. Then I heard that 29-year old nurse Amber Vinson had traveled by air from Cleveland to Dallas on Monday... What?!  Vinson had recently treated Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian man who died from the disease a week ago today.  Remembering that symptoms sometimes don't show up for as much as three weeks, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. How did we let this happen?  The CDC says she should have never been on a commercial jet.  Even if she hadn't flown, Vinson has three relatives who work at Kent State University, which caused them to release an advisory.

Amber Vinson is now in isolation and later today will be transferred to Atlanta for treatment. I wish her the absolute best and a quick and complete recovery.

It's clear that controlling this disease won't be easy and I know without doubt that researchers, and everyone else necessary, are working around the clock to find a way to do so. We all have just one plea. Please hurry.
