Las Vegas is breathing a sigh of relief now that the Men's NCAA Basketball Championship is set with Duke vs Wisconsin on Monday night. Wagers had been placed on both Kentucky and Michigan St. to win it all which would have paid out $1 Million dollars.

First off Kentucky. Kentucky was the odds on favorite to win it all. Not a lot of money to win if you placed your money on Kentucky back in mid March of this year. But...back in July, 2014, the odds were 50-1 that Kentucky would remain undefeated all season and become the National Champion. 10 bets were taken on those odds and as the season drew closer, the odds dropped to 10-1 odds. Things were looking pretty good that almost 1 million dollars would be paid out to these people that placed their money on Kentucky. Wisconsin dashed all those dreams and saved Vegas Saturday Night by beating Kentucky 71-64.

Michigan State was the other bet. What??? Michigan State that finished 3rd in the Big Ten regular season; was a #7 seed in the NCAA tournament; had a regular season record of 21-10... could win someone 1 million dollars??? Yes!!! Back in the first part of December, 2014, Derek Stevens decided to place a bet that could win him $1 million dollars. At that time Michigan State was 50-1 odds to win the National Championship. Stevens decided to place $20,000 on Michigan State... yes, $20,000 on a bet. I don't know about you but I get a little nervous on a $20 bet. The Duke Blue Devils dashed Stevens bet about 5 minutes into the game and beat Michigan State 81-61.

Vegas is breathing a little easier this morning.
