September and October will see lots of fall festivals and Oktoberfest celebrations right here in the local area! Here is some information on a few of the big ones:

  • Kalona Fall Festival
    • Kalona Historical Village
    • September 29th from 9 a.m. to 9 a.m. and September 30th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Olde world demonstrations, live music, homemade crafts & gifts, food booths, children's activities, chainsaw sculptures, and the 8th Annual Talent Show
    • Adults are $6 and children ages 7 to 12 are $2
  • Amana Oktoberfest
    • Amana Colonies
    • September 29th with events beginning at 9 a.m., September 30th with events beginning at 9 a.m., and October 1st with events beginning at 10 a.m.
    • Official Keg Tapping Ceremony is at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Festhalle Barn
    • Oktoberfest Parade is at 10 a.m. on Saturday
    • Live music, food, beer, games & contests, demonstrations, and kid's activities
    • A 1-Day Pass is $10 and a 2-Day Pass is $15

  • Northside Oktoberfest
    • 300 Block E Market in Downtown Iowa City
    • September 30th from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
    • SodaFest for kids begins at 10 a.m. in the Pagliai's Pizza Parking lot and on N. Linn Street - tickets are $5
    • Food, games, live music, and beer, with over 50 breweries featured

  • Pumpkinfest
    • Main Street in Anamosa
    • October 7th and 8th with events beginning at 8 a.m.
    • The Ryan Norlin GIANT Pumpkin Weigh-off announces awards at noon on October 7th
    • The Pumpkinfest Parade begins at 2:15 p.m. on October 7th
    • Raffles, food, craft vendors, games, kid's activities, a 5k run/walk, a tractor pull, a golf tournament, and a pancake breakfast

  • Ely Fall Fest
    • Downtown Ely
    • October 13th beginning at 7 p.m. and October 14th with events beginning at 9 a.m.
    • 5K Moonlight Run/Walk & 1 Mile Fun Run, live music, food, beer tent, car show, wiener dog race, adult co-ed softball tournament, adult cornhole tournament, youth fishing tournament, youth 'Punt, Pass & Kick Competition,' Board & Brush Party, hayrack rides, pet parade, kid's activities, Fall Fest Dance, fireworks, and more
