Political correctness has become a political buzz-term recently, but in a world of bias and racism is it necessary to have a team looking to make sure everything is peachy? University of Iowa's Chief Diversity Officer, Georgina Dodge has her share of concerns. In January, she proposed a team to address complaints of bias and racism on campus.

The team would investigate into incidents on a case by case basis to ensure all those involved are being treated fairly. However, in recent weeks she has confirmed that this may infringe upon student and staffs academic freedom as demonstrated over the past eight months. Other institutions that have teams like this have found often that they have overreached their authority, but Dodges goal remains clear:

"[to create a] safe place in which anyone who is subjected to biased treatment can go to find resources and to get help in coping." - Georgina Dodge.
