Yesterday brought hopes of spring with temperatures in the upper twenties. This week, however, is the one that brings real promise, for two reasons.

Despite Tuesday's uncertain forecast and precipitation, the high will be above freezing. That'll be the first time we've gone above 32 degrees since February 24th. And after another shot of cold, Friday promises the first of four straight days above freezing. Yes, spring is finally trying to bless us with its presence.

This weekend is also the beginning of daylight savings time. We move the clocks ahead one hour Saturday night. Yes, we lose an hour of sleep but I'll gladly give it up for more daylight in the evening.

Also, be sure to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors this weekend as well. It's also a good idea to check the purchase date on your existing ones. Most are only good for 10 years. We just had one malfunction last week at our house. We'd had it for 10 years and a month, so apparently they know what they're talking about. As I say every night when I leave the air, "Be good and be good to yourself." In this case, it's about keeping your family safe, too.
