American Idol premiered on Sunday night, and many of us here in Iowa were excited to find out that a young woman from right here in our state got a ticket to Hollywood (read more about Maddie Poppe HERE). Well, not only do we have an Iowan on Idol, we also have another one on The Voice!

Last night I sat down to watch the last round of the blind auditions on NBC, and I was only half paying attention when I heard the words "Des Moines, Iowa." I immediately looked up and saw 24-year-old Sharane Calister. I don't know why, but the second I saw her I just KNEW she was going to be amazing. She also has a very inspirational back story. The Voice official website states:

"Music has served as the only constant in Sharane's turbulent upbringing. At 10, Sharane was adopted by an older cousin while her twin sister was adopted by an outside family member. Sharane's adoptive mom was soon diagnosed with breast cancer - a battle she continues to fight today. The violin became an escape for Sharane during these difficult times. It wasn't until high school gospel choir that Sharane and her sister were finally reunited. After graduation, Sharane began traveling with bands that perform at weddings, corporate events and private parties all over the country."

Here is Sharane's PHENOMENAL performance of Ed Sheeran's "Make it Rain":

I definitely think Sharane is going to be one to watch this season and I can't wait to see her thrive on Team Alicia!

Sharane wasn't the only amazing singer on 'The Voice' this week! Here are a few of my other favorite performances:
