We're all guilty of hitting fast food restaurants from time to time.  There are so many to choose from, it seems like there is one on every corner!  Fast food is an unfortunate obsession of mine.  I try and be good, but sometimes you've just got to give in to the grease!  The website Thrilllist took a look at The United States Of Fast Food.  It ranked each state according to the number of big chains that started in that state, regional chains that started there, cool chains only in that state, variety and uniqueness of choices.  The number one state for fast food?  Texas.  It came in first in the number of chains that started there, and the sheer number of fast food options.  What about Iowa?  We came in 35th.  Here is what they had to say about the fast food in our state.

You can’t fathom how many Arby’s exist in Iowa. Though it started in Ohio, Iowa has its fair share of people practicing “meat craft.” Also, Arby’s website still uses MapQuest, but enough about Arby’s, let’s focus on the rest of Iowa’s fast-food game. They’ve got some of the great Midwest chains (Culver’s! Steak ’n Shake!) but their claim to fame is Maid-Rite, a loose-meat sandwich chain that specializes in un-sloppy Sloppy Joes. And, well, that's about it.

This is probably a good list NOT to rank near the top of.  Although all this talk about fast food is making me hungry!  Who's up for some Maid-Rite?
