Prom season looks like it's in full swing here in Eastern Iowa. What a joy it is to celebrate the bittersweet end to your high school years and throw a big party with all your friends.

Did you go to your prom? I went to mine, way back in 1996, and I went alone. I had no problem breaking that stigma that came with going to prom by yourself. I couldn't really get a date, either, but I didn't exactly try very hard. I had fun hanging out with my friends, dancing and even got a few slow dances in.

Being in high school in the '90s, there was a lot of good music. But at our actual prom at Kennedy in 1996, the theme song was "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton, a song dating back 20 years before we were in school.

Mashsable did a list of the best prom songs for each year starting with 1990, and the list included some great ones. "This is How we Do it" by Montell Jordan and "I Swear" by All- 4-One "rocked the average prom", as the list is categorized, for their respective years in 1994 and '95.

I am not a big fan of their choice for my graduation year, though. The prom song of the year in 1996 was "The Crossroads" by rap group Bone, Thugs 'N Harmony. I'll stick with the Eric Clapton, or the Bon Jovi or Bryan Adams that were rockin' my prom--and my radio, back in high school (and still are)!

Rekindle some memories of your prom and high school years by checking the rest of the list HERE. Also, feel free to share your song memories of prom and high school in the comments.

Happy Prom and have a great rest of your school year!
