RAGBRAI is here in Linn County. Tonight they spend the night in Hiawatha. Lots of fun activities are going on all around Hiawatha and the smaller towns along the route today. Here's a few things to help get you around the sea of bicycles that will be flooding our County.

Watch out for bicycles everywhere from points around Blairs Ferry Road North into Hiawatha. Just because you may not be near their route doesn't mean you won't encounter bicycles straying from the route. Lots of kids will be traveling to see RAGBRAI make its way into Hiawatha. Their eyes won't be on the road watching out for you in your vehicle. Keep an eye out everywhere for a bicycle.

If you do travel to Hiawatha for the festivities, remember these bicycles will be everywhere and you in your vehicle will be the minority.

When you talk with the RAGBRAI riders... don't ask them what place they're in. RAGBRAI IS NOT A RACE. Many, many, MANY years ago before RAGBRAI was as popular as it is today (okay back in the late 70's), I had a friend go on it. I made the mistake of asking him what place he finished. I mean come on.. I'm from a racing family.. "what do you mean no one keeps track of who has the lead???" RAGBRAI is a fun trek across the State of Iowa. "IT'S NOT A RACE!!!"

Just because it's after 10 and dark doesn't mean these bicylces are sleeping. There still could be the late arrivals making their way along the route... sometimes even as late as 1AM in the morning.

And on your way to work tomorrow, these riders will be making their trek North of Cedar Rapids, then East towards Mount Vernon, then South toward Iowa City/Coralville for their Friday Night stop.
