If you want to try this restaurant, you'll have to make a drive over to Mason City!

The website Thrillist did some research and found out the most "iconic" restaurant in each state across the U.S. In order to qualify, each restaurant had to have been around for 30 or more years, and still be a crowd favorite. The winner for Iowa isn't one that I've ever heard of before, but it's also a pretty far drive from Cedar Rapids. Here's what the website had to say about Northwestern Steakhouse in Mason City:

"When in Iowa, do as the Greeks do. About two hours north of Des Moines lies a steakhouse that's been around in one form or another since the '20s, and the steaks are all prepared one way: Greek-style. This means they're broiled in olive oil and doused with a special blend of Greek seasoning and secret ingredients, and the result is that you can cut your steak with a fork. The walls are plastered with old-timey movie posters featuring Chaplin and John Wayne in a cozy 50-seat space."
