There's no place like Iowa! A new article from Thrillist has ranked the Iowa State Fair as one of the seven best state fairs in the entire country.

"The Iowa State Fair -- an annual Des Moines staple since 1854 -- is pretty much known for three things: livestock competitions, the now-iconic butter cow sculpture (it's a cow, made of butter, FYI), and putting every unhealthy food in the greater Midwest... on a stick. As far as options go, the Iowa State Fair actually has more food vendors than any other in the country, topping 200 individual booths every year."

That's just an excerpt of the passage written about the Iowa State Fair, which will kick off August 9th and run through the 19th. We are less than two months away from this year's event, and I could not be more excited. I didn't get a chance to go last year, but you can bet your booty that I won't make that mistake again! After all, it was the first fair in Iowa that I was able to find an elephant ear...

Aside from the hundreds of amazing food options, this year's fair also has an awesome Grandstand lineup. Earth, Wind & Fire, Florida Georgia Line, Comedian Jim Gaffigan, Daughtry, and Thomas Rhett are just a few of the big names scheduled to perform. And that's not even including the free shows on some of the smaller stages! Click HERE to see a full list!

The State Fair of Texas, Wisconsin State Fair, Great New York State Fair, Minnesota State Fair, the Big E Fair, and the San Diego County Fair were the other fairs recognized by Thrillist. You can read more on each one HERE.
