January 26th, 1979 is a day that changed the life of many of us. It was the very first episode of the TV show 'The Dukes of Hazzard'. The adventures of the Duke cousins, Daisy, Roscoe and Boss Hog had just begun. The show would run until February 8th, 1985 and changed the life for many people, including myself.

How much did I love 'The Dukes of Hazzard'? My parents love telling the story of me riding with them in their truck, and yelling "jump it like the General Lee" everytime we approached a hill. Sometimes they'd punch the gas just for a second and I'd swear we were flying though the air just like the Dukes! I had 'The Dukes of Hazzard' toys. I had multiple General Lee die cast cars, and a larger version that came complete with Luke and Bo Duke. I think my parents were secretly happy they didn't have girls. How would they explain what 'Daisy Dukes' were?

If you were born in the 1970's like me, you were more than likely a fan of the show. It's impossible to ignore the affect it had on pop culture. The show can still be seen in re-runs, which means future generations can still dream like I did, about running from the law just like the Duke boys did! Cue Waylon Jennings please.
