A new survey was done to determine the best time of year to visit all 50 states, and you can probably guess why August was the winner for Iowa!

The website Thrillist talked to various locals, tourism boards, and a large number of contributors to figure out what time of year is the best time to visit each US state. Not surprisingly, mid-August was the prime to to visit Iowa because of a little event called the Iowa State Fair. Maybe you've heard of it?

The article reads:

"The Iowa State Fair is without a doubt the can't-miss event in the state, where big-name country acts headline the fair every night, and you'll find all the food, games, and 4-H club excitement befitting a Midwestern expo."

The article also adds that the weather in August is the best of the year, so it's the prime time to do outdoorsy things, like take a hike, kayak down a river, or explore the Maquoketa Caves.
