The restaurant named the winner of the Iowa Pork Producers "Best Breaded Tenderloin in Iowa" serves an average of 1,000 of them each week.

The 2016 winner is Nick's, in Des Moines. Chosen over 384 other entries, Nick's is the first restaurant from Iowa's capital city to win the award.

The restaurant's owner, Nick Iaria, said in a news release, "I’m really thrown back. I’ve wanted this award since I opened. I watch the contest every year. I’m really excited; this is great.”

I already told you Nick's serves 1,000 tenderloins a week, but how 'bout this: Those account for 80 percent of the restaurant's business. That MUST be a good tenderloin. It certainly looks good. Mmm, mmm...

Nick's tenderloins are machine-tenderized each morning and several steps are followed, once one is ordered. They're seasoned, floured, battered, breaded and cooked in a tenderloin-only fryer. They can be purchased in either a 6 to 7-ounce "queen" size or a 12 to 13-ounce "king size."

Nick's receives a $500 check, plaque, banner, and undoubtedly an increase in the 1,000 tenderloins he already sells each week. I mean just look at that golden beauty! By the way, Nick's is located at 1106 Army Post Road in Des Moines.
