Marion and Cedar Rapids police quickly captured a man suspected of armed robbery in Marion on Saturday evening.

37 year-old Nelson Junior Brocks is being charged with the crime after cops took him into custody a short time after the robbery was reported. Brocks was located and picked up in the 2800 block of 1st Ave.

The robbery took place in broad daylight around 5:35 p.m. at 289 14th St. in Marion when a man flashed a knife and stole a purse from an unnamed victim.

Brocks was charged with second degree armed robbery and domestic assault.

The fact that this type of crime is occurring during full daylight hours is a reminder to all of us to be aware of our surroundings at all times. Crime can strike anyone anywhere and at any time.
