Steven Tyler is going country. No doubt by now you've heard the former Aerosmith front man is launching a country career and released his first country single this past week. Some folks in Nashville are accepting, while others seem to have a problem. Clay Walker says that artists like Tyler dipping their toes into country music " dilutes the format." Country singer Will Hoge has another term for it.

Ouch. Carpetbagger might be a bit harsh. Here is the bottom line. Tyler wants to sell records, and what continues to be one of the hottest, best selling formats of music? Country. Here's where I don't have a problem with what he's doing. If you fully commit, and put out quality music, then who am I to say you can't be a country singer. But if you put out crap, then you'll be dismissed fairly quickly. Look at Darius Rucker, former lead singer for Hootie and the Blowfish. He fully committed to a career in country music. He got with Brad Paisley and his producers and has put out great music and has been accepted by the country community. Can Steven Tyler do the same? Perhaps. Listen to Steven's single 'Love is Your Name' HERE.

How do you feel about aging rockers landing in country music?
