UCLA men's basketball coach Steve Alford is taking heat, and I'm loving every minute of it.

Alford is universally despised around Iowa after beginning what many feel was the downward spiral for Hawkeye hoops. The fact that Alford was able to jet from Iowa City under scrutiny with another job already waiting at New Mexico only added to the ire.

Alford went on to have some success at New Mexico, signed a big contract extension with the school, and then promptly bolted to take the high-profile gig at UCLA. Everything seemed to be going Alford's way. The same can't be said now.

It was announced about a week ago that Alford -- after a season where his Bruins team finished 15-17 -- would be returning the one-year contract extension he signed with the team after the 2013-14 season.

This all comes amid numerous calls to fire Alford -- in the form of mobile billboards and airplane banners.

Is it just me, or is this making anyone really happy? I feel like karma is finally coming around for a coach who has shown plenty of arrogance and entitlement over the course of his career.

So I'll just watch happily as Alford's seat gets even hotter...
