Iowa's interstate speed limit has been 70 miles-per-hour since 2005, but that could be changing. Iowa Senator Brad Zaun wants to propose an increase from 70 to 75-miles per hour in areas where state officials consider it suitable. Sixteen other states already have speed limits of 75-miles per hour. How do I feel about rising to their level? I absolutely have an opinion.

I've been in other mid-western states that have 75-miles per hour speed limits and there's two things that strike me each time. Number one, I'm on vacation and in the midst of a l-o-n-g drive (at least in my mind) and am totally excited when I see 75! Number two, it's been my experience that very few people are driving 80 or more in those areas and I still feel safe. That's the most important thing, for me. Besides, if gas prices stay in the two-dollar-per-gallon range, I don't mind sacrificing some gas mileage for a faster trip. 80 miles-per-hour? Nope, I'd draw the line at 75.
